My Mastering Process
Mastering is the final creative and technical step before your music is released to the world. My goal is to bring out the best in your mix, ensure consistency across tracks, and prepare your music for release on any format or platform.
Here’s what my mastering process looks like:
- Quality check - firstly I check each audio file to make sure that it’s functioning as it should, making sure there are no bits of audio that are cut off from the start and end of each track, and listening to make sure that there’s nothing there that shouldn’t be (such as a vocal in an instrumental mix). This is the part where I can get rid of any clicks or pops if needed. If anything needs adjusting, I’ll reach out before moving forward.
- Audio processing - getting an album sounding polished is my favourite part! I love being creative with mastering and working really collaboratively with the artist, producer or mix engineer.
- Sequencing and flow - once the masters have been approved, I will work on the flow of an album. If you have a super clear idea of track spacing, feel free to send me a guide track to copy. Otherwise, I can create a starting point and we can work collaboratively from there to get the flow just right.
- Alt mixes and formats - once the audio and the sequence has been approved, I’ll master any alternative mixes (instrumentals, TV mixes) before creating the formats that you need in order to release your project into the world.
Whether it’s a single, an EP, or a full album, my mastering process is designed to preserve your artistic intent while preparing your music for a professional, polished release.
If you have any questions, special requests, or want to talk through your project, I’m always happy to help.
